New link between obesity and cancer
A government report says there’s a new link between obesity and cancer.
According to the Centers for Disease Control, excess weight and a sedentary lifestyle are risk factors for 25 to 30 percent of cancers in the U.S.
Some of the effects of obesity and inactivity that doctors said play a role in cancers include increased hormone levels, chronic hypertension and damaging inflammatory agents.
There is a bit of good news in the report.
It said the overall rate of new cancer cases in the U.S. is dropping.
Starbucks under fire for bug extract
Some vegans are upset with Starbucks.
A Starbucks barista disclosed to a vegan website this week that the coffee chain’s Strawberry Frappuccino gets its red color from an extract made from bugs.
The extract is FDA approved and considered safe, but it’s not vegan-friendly.
Starbucks said it never told anyone the drink was vegan-friendly.
